Dyeing Printing & Finishing

True Textiles, TSG Named Scotchgard™ Licensees
3M, St. Paul, Minn., has signed exclusive Scotchgard™ textile finish licensing agreements with two companies. Contract fabrics manufacturer True Textiles, Grand Rapids, Mich., is now an exclusive vertical mill licensee for the US market. Commission finisher TSG Inc., North Wales, Pa., is exclusive US licensee in that category.

"In working with True Textiles and TSG, we immediately accomplished two important objectives," said Mitch Culbreath, new business development manager, 3M Protective Materials. "They are passionate about the Scotchgard brand and believe it is a great fit for the contract fabrics market, and they are already strongly positioned as leaders in environmental sustainability."

3M's current Scotchgard Protector soil- and stain-repellent product line is a reformulation of the original Scotchgard, whose perfluorooctanyl chemistry raised environmental, health and safety issues, and which was discontinued in 2000. The new product line is based upon stable polymers that have minimal to no environmental impact, the company reports.
