Coating by Thermal Spraying involves heating material in either a powder or wire form to a molten or semi molten state and propelling it using a stream of gas or compressed air to deposit a layer on the surface of the parent component. This process can be repeated many times allowing the technician to build up series of layers.

The coating material may consist of a single element but it is more often an alloy or composite with unique physical properties that are only achievable through the Thermal Spraying Process.
